Prof. Bidhu Bhusan Mishra started his academic career as Lecturer in Berhampur University in 1988 and joined Utkal University, Bhubaneswar in 1990. He completed his long journey in Utkal University for 32 years successfully delivering all his academic as well as administrative assignments including being positioned as Professor & Head of the Department of Business Administration, Dean of Faculty of Business Studies, Member of Syndicate etc.

He has guided more than 50 Ph.D Scholars; Authored more than 100 research papers and six books and course materials for IGNOU & Odisha State Open University; Attended more than 150 Seminars and chaired in many of them; Completed research projects funded by UGC, ICSSR, MCL, TATA STEEL, IOCL, OMFED etc.; Conducted several training programmes for Corporate Houses; Honoured with prestigious POSCO Asia Fellowship in 2007, Commonwealth Academic Fellowship in 2013 and awarded National Rural Talent Scholarship (1973-77) & National Scholarship (1977-81) for outstanding works.

He has visited countries like United Kingdom, Korea, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, etc. in relation to International Academic Exposure.

Recently he has joined as Vice-Chancellor of Sambalpur University after his superannuation from Utkal University on 09/01/2023. During this short span, successfully held the Convocation and celebrated Foundation Day of the University and working on timely conduct of examinations, publication of results and looking forward for holistic development of the University.
