My long term objective is to investigate the fundamental aspects of the organization of surfactants with respect to the types of interactions, patterns of organization, physicochemical nature of the subdomains of the assemblies, specific orientations/alignments of the surfactant molecules in solutions and at interfaces, their stability, and to better understand some applications arising out of the organizations.

The studies include:
(i) structural aspects of organized assemblies such as micelles, mixed micelles and microemulsions
(ii) catalysis of chemical reactions by organized assemblies
(iii) coal- water slurry stabilization
(iv) spectroscopic and solvatochromic behaviour of aldimines in aqueous media and in presence of organized assemblies
(v) biodiesel production
(vi) synthesis of adsorbents for environmental pollution management
(vii) utilization of waste and underutilized materials
(viii) nanomaterials, etc.
