  1. Conformational Dynamics Study of proteins/peptides
  2. Proteins are the workhorses of cellular machinery. A unique 3D structure of a protein is essential for its proper functioning. However, some proteins lack a stable 3D structure and present as structural assemble known as intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). They undergo many functions in organisms through structural and conformational variation. A small or even a single mutation in protein sequence prevents them from proper functioning and may lead to pathophysiological conditions such as sickle cell, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, diabetes, and cancers. Other than mutation, environmental perturbation due to aging also disturbs the conformation of proteins, which may paralyze the proper functioning of proteins. Further, a detailed understanding of the structural or conformational dynamics of proteins in different physiological conditions will give information about their functionality. We study conformers of proteins at various conditions through spectroscopic methods such as steady-state fluorescence, time-resolved fluorescence, and Circular dichroism.
