Dr. Arun Kumar Acharya, graduated as a Doctor in Anthropology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Mexico and currently he is Professor at Department of Anthropology, Sambalpur University, India.


Prior to this he was Professor and Researcher in Mexico. He specializes in research on perspectives and implications of internal and international migration with regard to human trafficking. He is founder of the Mexican Centre for Migration and Human Trafficking Studies, Monterrey.


Dr. Acharya has published 9 books and more than 60 research papers in international journal on migration and human trafficking. He also actively participated in the formulation of Mexican ant trafficking law during 2012 and 2014. His book Perspectives of Human Trafficking in Mexico led most of the states of Mexico to reformulate their local trafficking laws. In 2012, the International Organization of Migration (IOM), Geneva invited him to deliver a lecture on Migration and Human Trafficking in America and in 2015-16 the World Bank, Washington DC, also invited him to deliver a lecture on Fragility of the Mexican State and Gender Inequality. Recently, he was recognised as expert in Gender and Human trafficking studies by the UNDP.
