We offer Master's and Doctoral Degree Programs in Statistics, allowing our students to immerse themselves in a comprehensive learning experience.

Within the Department, we emphasize a wide range of areas, including Econometrics, Biostatistics & Epidemiology, Statistical Decision Theory, Pattern Recognition, SQC & Reliability, Bayesian Inference, Linear Models and Regression Analysis, Demography, Optimization-II, Actuarial Statistics, Data Warehousing and Data Mining and Advanced Stochastic Process.Research areas such as Operations Research, Machine Learning, Time Series Analysis and Forecasting are currently being prioritized. Our faculty members are actively engaged in ongoing research, collaborating with world-renowned professors and completing various research projects funded by esteemed organizations like the UGC, DST, and ICSSR, New Delhi, further fuelling our pursuit of knowledge.

To facilitate cutting-edge research, we maintain a state-of-the-art computer lab equipped with the latest statistical software packages such as R Programming, SPSS, and STATA, empowering our students to explore the frontiers of statistical analysis. Moreover, fostering academic exchange and intellectual growth, our department hosts numerous Workshops, National, and International Seminars, creating a vibrant learning community.

Courses in Research Methodology are a highlight of our department's offerings, accessible to students from all corners of the University through UGC HRDC, Sambalpur University under the leadership and guidance of Prof. Monalisha Pattnaik who is currently serving as the Head of the Department. This ensures that our students build a solid foundation and become well-versed in research practices, preparing them for success in their academic and professional endeavours. Notably, our students have consistently achieved high pass rates in national exams like NET, GATE, and CSIR, a testament to the quality of education they receive.

The Department of Statistics takes immense pride in the success stories of our graduates who have excelled in their careers. Students from our pious department have secured positions such as Block Social Security Officer under Odisha Social Security Service, Statistical Investigator Gr-II Group B, and two of our students have been posted as Assistant Professors conducted by OPSC making us proud of their achievements.
