The Department of Hindi was established in 2010 has been conducting regular M.A. programme. Keeping in mind the boarder concept of Hindi literature and language, the Department is also creating awareness among the students with regard to the socio-cultural development of western part of Odisha. The continuous attraction of students from almost all the states of Odisha to the Department is a testimony to the popularity of the subject and its utility and relevance in the region. The Department of Hindi offers facilities for intensive study and research in different areas of Hindi literature, functional Hindi and translation, paying special attention to comparative literature. It combined Indian and western critical theories to develop a unique course on criticism and linguistics, which retained the insights of ancient wisdom combining it with recent developments in the discipline. The modified syllabus is well suited for teaching of literature and prayojanmoolak Hindi, criticism, poetics, linguistics and history of literature with emphasis on its deliverance for contemporary society.
